2018 is an exciting time for me. I’m settled again and regular readers will have noticed that I’m back into the swing of posting articles and engaging with you all. This is why I set up this blog four years and hundreds of articles ago! I just wanted to let you know that there will be changes to TPF over the coming weeks. I recently made the decision to join the Amazon Associates Program, along with the Wex Affiliate Program. This means that you will begin to see Amazon and Wex Photo branded banners/links/thumbnails on the site and in certain articles. This won’t adversely affect you in any way and I will ensure that it has minimal impact on the layout and readability of the site. In fact, it is a small part of improving what happens on TPF.
Any clicks on these links or banners that result in any purchase from Amazon or Wex Photo will result in me receiving a small commission from Amazon or Wex Photo. This will offset the cost of running this site (hosting, email, spam filtering etc) and may eventually return a small income. This is good for me (obviously), but also helps me to dedicate time to the blog, which naturally competes with other ways of converting time into the income we all depend on. I can only say that the time it takes to run a site like this, from maintenance through to writing posts, is never less than considerable. I’m married; I have two kids, a dog, a cat and a baby on the way, so I do have to keep it real.
I wanted to share this with you, because you will see the ads and may wonder how they fit in with my broader intentions. I therefore want to reassure you that I will continue to be my opinionated and independent self. It is this last point that is particularly important to me, because it is just one of the tenets of integrity. While there may be specific ads here and there, I will make it clear when I particularly rate or recommend a product. I have zero interest in becoming a shill, or ‘one of those sites’ that says everything is amazing in order to generate revenue. That isn’t ‘me’ and never will be. I will keep everything crystal clear and retain my independence for as long as TPF is online. I will not be running generic ‘Google ads’ or selling space to anyone who wants it. Everything that appears will be here because it is relevant to TPF content or relevant products from retailers I personally use.
I would ask that if you appreciate this website, please use my links if you intend to make purchases from Wex Photo (UK based), or Amazon (I will use links for the Amazon US, UK and the main European sites). It doesn’t matter what you buy, whether it is a new lens from Wex Photo, or a bathroom mirror from Amazon.de. If you first arrived on Amazon from TPF, I will still get a commission. This is a great way of showing me that you appreciate the blog and will only lead to more time being dedicated to this site in the future. The best bit is that it doesn’t cost you a penny.
See you all again soon….
